In late 2015, Ancorite Surface Protection carried out lining work on three Demineralised Water Tanks situated at a high level (30m) within the Turbine Hall at Drax Power Station, Selby. The area lined was circa 200m2 for each tank, including internal fittings.
The tanks were shot-blasted to receive an International Paint Interline system. The system is a heavy-duty epoxy tank lining, which provides corrosion resistance to a range of products. Following application, the lining was spark-tested to prove integrity.
The work was completed to a tight schedule by a team of four with a safety person on standby. Plant was also provided by Ancorite.
Ancorite has operated on site at Drax Power Station – the biggest in the UK, responsible for generating 16% of the country’s renewable power – for many years, providing coatings, rubber linings and GRP Pipework.
